Building Surveys
Previously known as a full structural survey, a building survey is the most detailed property inspection available.
It's different to a Home Report because it takes a more in depth look at the property's construction and condition.
It will tell you in more detail about:
- Any major problems with the building
- The general condition of reasonably accessible internal and external parts of the building
- The roof structure
- Anything that could be expensive to fix in the future
- Any suspected problems like timber infestation or damp that might need specialist advice
- The overall impression of services like water supply and drainage – testing these services isn't included, though
A building survey will also:
- Look at boundaries, grounds and outbuildings
- Explain the consequences of any problems discovered during the inspection

Is it for me?
A building survey is suitable for all residential properties and will provide a full picture of their construction and condition. The report will include details of a range of defects from major to minor. It's particularly suitable if the property is large, old, unusual or poorly maintained. It is also suitable for properties that have been substantially altered or extended.
